Hillingdon Autistic Care & Support (HACS) has announced the launch of its Waiting Well Workshop, a new online programme designed to support families with children aged 5 and above who are currently waiting for an autism assessment.

With waiting times for autism assessments often stretching many months, the programme aims to provide families with practical advice, emotional support, and reliable information during this challenging period. The workshop is delivered in a friendly, supportive environment and offers a structured six‑week curriculum covering key topics relevant to understanding and navigating autism.

What the Programme Covers

Each weekly session explores an important area of learning, including:

  • What is autism?

  • Communication and language

  • Social interaction and understanding

  • Anxiety, meltdowns, and repetitive behaviours

  • Sensory processing

  • Diagnosis process, EHCPs, and SEN provision

The programme is designed to empower parents and carers with knowledge and strategies they can begin using right away. HACS emphasises that families are not alone—this initiative is crafted to offer reassurance and community while they await formal assessment.
